Marius started his career as an estate administrator and will draftsman with a trust company over 40 years ago. He then joined a life assurer as a legal advisor and later became manager of the legal training department. He has been an independent consultant for over 30 years and has specialised in training financial intermediaries and preparing candidates for the CFP® competency examinations. He has been the editor of the LexisNexis quarterly journal Insurance and Tax Journal since 1995. He is also one of the co-authors of Fundamentals of Financial Planning and annually updates the LexisNexis publication Corporate and Personal Financial Planning. He has spoken at various seminars over the years.

Paul is the founder of Lightbulb Learning and Training, which specialises in providing training for financial planners for formal qualifications, regulatory examinations, professional competence and the FPI Board Exams. In 2007, Paul was awarded the prize for top Advanced Post-graduate student in the country for both modules. He is the managing editor of the SA Financial Planning Handbook, SA Financial Planning Case Studies, Fundamentals of Financial Planning, Legislation Handbook and Preparatory Guide for RE 1 & RE 5, all published by LexisNexis. He is passionate about the education, transformation and professionalism of the financial planning industry. He has been a guest speaker at numerous events. Paul is also the founder of The Assembly Improv South Africa which provides facilitation in long-form improvisational comedy, team building and applied improv for developing financial planners’ communication skills. Paul has completed CFA level I and the Psychology of Financial Planning Specialist™ course. He is a Fellow of the South African Institute of Financial Markets and serves as a Governor on the SAIFM board.
