This course is the first in the Weatherization Training Series of required courses for the Wx Network in Florida. This series, facilitated by AIOBS, will provide in-depth training on Building Science Principles (BSP) and Healthy Housing principles (HHP). It is for Wx employees and contractors of local agencies.
Building Science Principles (BSP):
You will learn some of the widely-used industry terminology related to building science. Building science demonstrates how various components of a home interact to affect the home's overall performance. Understanding the relationships between the building envelope, heating, A/C, insulation, mechanical ventilation, lighting, appliances and other systems of the home will enable you to assist yourself and others. Learn how these systems affect the comfort, health and safety of occupants and durability of the home. Discover why improving the energy efficiency of the home should be the first step toward solar, geothermal, or other renewable energy improvements.
Healthy Housing Principles (HHP):
Earning the Healthy Housing Principles (HHP) Certificate of Knowledge proves your knowledge of how the different components of a home interact to affect occupant health. Homeowners and renters are a part of the house as a system and a recipient of the downstream effects of how they follow the eight healthy housing principles: This IREC Accredited Training Program proves that you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to get the job done right.
The BSP and HHP course designations are prerequisites for all subsequent BPI Certification courses, so attendance is crucial for all available FACA agency workers, contractors and staff members. This will be an in-person, 4 day long training. Participants will obtain their BSP and HHP certificates upon completion.
