Tunku Iskandar is the Group Executive Chairman of The Melewar Group, a widely diversified Malaysia conglomerate that was founded in 1965 and has investments and operations in various industries including education & training, travel & tourism, steel manufacturing, financial services, oil & gas services and construction & development including a number of public-listed companies.
He holds an M.Sc in International Marketing of the University of Strathclyde, UK. He had also been appointed Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) as well as the Institute of Administrative Management (UK). In 1984, he received the “Triple-A” Alumni Achievement Award from the Asian Institute of Management and in 2018, was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Business by Taylor’s University, Malaysia.
Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohammed Azman Dato’ Aziz Mohammed is the Chief Executive of Social Security Organisation (SOCSO). A Medical Doctor by profession, Dr. Mohammed Azman is instrumental in various innovations and initiatives that drive SOCSO’s leadership in social security protection including disability management, Return to Work programme, accident prevention programme, employee health promotion, SOCSO Rehabilitation Centre and employment services.
Under his stewardship, SOCSO’s social safety net has been extended to a larger section of population including the self-employed, workers with loss of employment and foreign workers. SOCSO also assumes the role of National Employment Services provider.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, SOCSO has been entrusted with implementing Government initiatives under the PRIHATIN, PENJANA, KITA PRIHATIN and PERMAI stimulus packages, as well as the 2021 Budget. SOCSO is currently managing the Wage Subsidy Programme 3.0 (PSU 3.0), PenjanaKerjaya 2.0, SIP Prihatin, SPS Lindung, and the COVID-19 Screening Programme for Foreign Workers.
Besides being the Board Member of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) and Asian Social Security Association (ASSA), Dr. Mohammed Azman also sits on the Vision Zero Global Alliance Council. He is the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Bureau Member, Nomination Committee Member, the Chairman of ISSA Technical Commission of Organizational, Management and Innovation as well as the Vice President of ISSA Section on Prevention and Transportation.
Ambassador Dato’ Aminahtun, a career diplomat who served in Malaysia’s Foreign Service for 36 years is a leader, communicator and cross-cultural negotiator. During her career she served in various capacities and was appointed Malaysia’s highest representative in three countries namely; Ambassador to Ukraine, Ambassador to Croatia and High Commissioner to Canada. Contrary to popular belief, a diplomatic life is not about the high life, lots of travel, and glamour. In her postings, Dato’ Aminahtun faced many challenges and she had to shoulder myriad responsibilities as she faced riots, demonstrations, sundry prejudices, language and cultural barriers.
Other than diplomacy, her passion is training. Upon retirement from public service, she has successfully transferred that expertise to the corporate world. Ambassador Dato’ Aminahtun and her spouse are founders of ACOVA Sdn. Bhd., a training company and talent management consultancy. The focus of ACOVA is in inner skilling; that is, to build characters by bringing back latent core values to the fore. They coach and mentor future business leaders and employees to become more competitive in the local and global market. She also conducts upskilling courses and is on the panel of trainers for Melewar Training Resources Sdn. Bhd. and the Institute for Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, Malaysia.
Datuk Hj. Shamsuddin Bardan heads the Malaysian Employers (MEF) Secretariat with a team consisting of 30 professional staff and 20 support staff. As the Executive Director of MEF, Datuk Hj. Shamsuddin is entrusted with the full responsibilities of administrating the organisation. Members of MEF employ more than 2.8 million employees.
As MEF is the apex private sector employers' organisation in Malaysia with more than 6,100 ordinary members and 27 association members, Datuk Hj. Shamsuddin in his capacity as the MEF Executive Director recommends policies to be pursued by MEF to the Government in ensuring that the private sector in Malaysia operates in a more business friendly environment so as to ensure the private sector employers remain competitive.
The efficient and effective work of Datuk Hj. Shamsuddin in managing MEF is internationally and regionally recognised. He was appointed as the Secretary-General of Confederation of Asia Pacific Employers (CAPE) and Secretary-General of ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE) (2013-2015).
Henry Law is the Director of Cambridge Linguaskill Operations in Malaysia and the Corporate Strategy Director of Sasbadi Holdings Berhad. Since Linguaskill's official launching in Malaysia at the tail end of 2018, Henry was tasked to develop and grow the Malaysian market for Cambridge Linguaskill.
To date, he has successfully obtained noteworthy recognition from several key Malaysian regulatory bodies and authorities, including the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE), Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA), and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).
As a certification of English proficiency for the workplace, Cambridge Linguaskill has also been prominently positioned in various workplace initiatives at the national level, such as the PENJANA initiatives, through government agencies including the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO).
Henry is currently heading the English Solutions for Careers Division within the Sasbadi Education Group. He has more than 12+ years of industry experience within the education sector. He is also a first-class honours Bachelor's and a first-class honours Master's graduate from the University of Bath, United Kingdom.
Philip Lim is currently the General Manager of Melewar Learning Resources, the Master Licensee for Direct English, UK, in Malaysia & Singapore. He holds both a Bachelor’s degree and a Masters degree in Education, majoring in Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL).
Philip’s career stints prior to joining Melewar Learning Resources include being the Director of the ‘Centre for English Language’ of a private university in Malaysia and the Academic Director of a private higher education institution in Singapore.
Even though Philip’s background is in Education (TESL), his vast work experience also includes serving many different institutions/organisations in various leadership roles in the areas of educational management, corporate service, corporate communication and public relations.
Gayathri was trained in Australia in the area of counseling and applied psychology following her Bachelors in Business and Commerce. After her appointment at SOCSO, she was trained by the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Services of Australia following the inception of the Return To Work Programme that was launched in 2007. As a pioneer Case Manager, she has been involved in drawing the work process and modules for Return to Work in her organisation as well as the Return to Work expansion programme which involves the training of new case managers. She has also been trained as a Job Coach and is currently a senior trainer for Job Coach programs that is aimed to make employers become change agents in the field of Disability Employment. Gayathri currently heads the Employment Services Department at SOCSO and has introduced many new initiatives in the area of job placement and employment support in Social Security Organisation Malaysia. She is also the team lead for SOCSO’s first Case Management based Job Portal.
She steers the BMCC’s robust network composed of 260 MNCs & SMEs, together with its associates and key stakeholders from both the private and the public sector. In her role, she drives her team to leverage business matching opportunities for the Chamber’s members, while providing a representative industry/sector voice to engage in purposeful public/ministerial dialogue with key government stakeholders.
She’s also the chief liaison for the BMCC Board of Directors, the Malaysian spokesperson for the bilateral chambers under the British in South East Asia (BISEA) faction. Jennifer also supervises the BMCC’s contract with the British government’s Department International Trade (DIT), whereby the Chamber serves as a platform for British businesses looking to export products & services to Malaysia and develop a presence in-market.
As a Chartered Accountant by training, Jennifer has enjoyed a versatile career in professional education and financial industries, including assuming the role as Head of Malaysia at ACCA for 5 years; honing her specialities in developing strategic partnerships, corporate branding and relationship management.
