About Us

Black Farmers United - New York State Inc. (BFU-NYS or Black Farmers United NYS) is a statewide, member-led policy, advocacy, and education organization run by over 100 Black growers, entrepreneurs, and food justice advocates dedicated to co-creating equitable food systems. More than this, we envision a future where every Black person called to farm is a joyful and thriving farmer—building collective power, generational wealth, fertile and abundant land, and healthy, equitable communities throughout New York State. Advocating for—and engaging in work that embodies the values underlying of—our Nine Solutions for Racial Inequity in New York Agriculture is a large part of our work to better ensure this future.
