A Guide to MEDC Membership

· Serve as a liaison between cities and businesses seeking to locate in Missouri

· Voice concerns about regulatory, infrastructure, legislative and other community and industry issues

· Participate in special task forces to review and/or create economic development strategies for specific industry growth


Membership Defined

Associate - Elected officials, appointed individuals, or volunteer leaders that assist an economic development organization in an unpaid capacity.

Full Member - Individual professionals who commit all or a portion of their time to direct involvement in economic or community development or a related field such as city, county, or chamber management.

Investor, Circle, or Partner - An economic development organization or company that maintains a high level of interest in economic development activity in Missouri and is highly committed to supporting MEDC's mission and efforts.


Membership Benefits

Education and Networking - Four (4) conferences along with marketing, legislative, and other committee meetings throughout the year offer professional development and peer interaction.

Connectivity - Strategic alliances with other statewide development organizations leverage resources, increase membership and expand MEDC's area of influence.

Mentoring - Industry veterans, known as the MEDC Counselors, are available for mentorship on issues facing economic developers.

Marketing - Trade shows, impact trips and other opportunities promote and market Missouri and its communities to business decision-makers.

Recognition - Awards are presented at the Annual Conference to recognize the substantial contributions made by individual economic developers.

Communication - eNewsletters, social media, and website keep members informed of the organization's resources, activities, and actions. Inclusion in the online Membership Directory.


MEDC invoices members annually based on their membership tier.


NOTE: Dues paid to MEDC are not deductible as charitable contributions but may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. A portion of dues, however, is not deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense to the extent that MEDC engages in industry lobbying. The non deductible portion of dues for 2023-24 is estimated to be 55%.

    • Eligibility to serve on a committee or on the board of directors.

    *This membership is not considered a voting member of the organization and is not eligible for professional development scholarships or certifications.

    *Full-time students or interns may join at this level for one year at a time at no cost.
