Ordinary Membership

Ordinary Members comprise companies actively engaged in the transformation of raw materials into finished or partially finished products, as well as those involved in the design and development of such products. These members may also outsource excess capacity or products that require specialised equipment and/or technical expertise not available in-house.

A printer refers to a dedicated printing business that owns and operates its own printing equipment, executing printing jobs within its facility. Typically, these organizations also provide complementary services such as graphic design, binding, and finishing, offering customers a comprehensive printing solution. Each printing company may utilize different types of printing equipment, depending on the specific requirements of a project. While some printers specialise in a single printing method—such as digital, offset, flexography, gravure, screen printing, or large-format printing—others may offer a combination of these services.

Ordinary Members include companies that perform one or more of the following functions:

• Graphic Design Only – Must employ in-house design staff and own relevant software.
• Full Value Chain – Encompassing graphic design, printing, and finishing.
• Finishing Only – Specialising in binding, cutting, and other post-print processes.

Industry Representation & Advocacy

• Engagement with the Fibre Processing and Manufacturing (FP&M) SETA
• Access to general and members-only content on the Printing SA website
• Representation on the South African Typographical Union – Printing Industry Pension and Provident Fund Board and Committees
• Participation in the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) Board and Regional Chambers
• Membership in FESPA, the global federation of 37 national associations serving the screen, digital, and textile printing sectors
• Involvement in the World Print and Communication Forum
• Collaboration with the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA)

Regulatory & Technical Committees

• Secretarial services for the Printing Employers Association of South Africa (PEASA) and the Independent Packaging Employers Association of South Africa (IPEASA)
• Representation at ITAC (International Trade Administration Commission) regarding duty applications on raw materials for the industry
• Participation in South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Technical Committees and Working Groups
• Engagement in the Protocol of Trades initiatives

Associate Membership

Associate Members are companies that serve as suppliers to the printing industry, offering essential products and services that support industry operations.

These members typically provide:

• Raw Materials – Essential inputs for printing processes.
• Consumables – Supplies required for ongoing production.
• Equipment – Machinery and tools used in printing and finishing.
• Software – Specialized programs for design, workflow management, and production optimization.
• Financial Services – Funding solutions tailored to the needs of the printing sector.
