About Us

The South African Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (SASBCP) is a learned society and non-profit organisation that serves all scientists and health professionals interested in pharmacology in order to promote pharmacology on the African continent. The SASBCP is a member of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR), and associates with the International Science Council and the South African National Research Foundation. The SASBCP has played a central role in promoting pharmacological sciences, in its various forms. It has enjoyed support from academic, industrial and professional practice spheres. The society has contributed to uplifting young pharmacologists associated with the society in their academic ventures. Furthermore, it has also spearheaded an initiative to promote pharmacological sciences on the African continent through Pharmacology for Africa (PharfA).
