IS 383 - Philippa Schuyler School for the Gifted and Talented is a legacy institution in the Bushwick community. Founded as IS 383 in 1977, and re-named Philippa Duke Schuyler by the Brooklyn Borough President in 1978, the school's purpose was and will remain to address decades of "suffering" in the area of education for neighborhood's youth. Almost half a century old, the school is redefining gifted and talented schooling in the computer age.
