Dr. Aung Thura is a co-founder of z-waka, which enable clinics in low resource settings to provide affordable quality healthcare. He holds a master’s degre in Mechanical Engineering of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, a master’s degree in Quantitative Economics and Finance and a doctorate in Banking and Finance of the University of St. Gallen. Dr. Aung Thura worked as a Structured Products and Equity Derivatives Trader with a Swiss Bank. In his role as a quant, he has experienced in developing a bank-internal trading platform for deriatives. In January 2012, Dr. Aung Thura moved to Myanmar to establish Thura Swiss, a Myanmar-based Research and consulting company. Thura Swiss aims to become a leading securities company in Myanmar and has developed on OTC trading platform. Together with a consortium, Thura Swisss is planning to apply for a license to operate an OTC trading platform in Myanmar.

She holds a leadership position at a 160-bed private hospital that is the only healthcare facility in Myanmar accredited by the U.S.-based Joint Commission International. Aung studied medicine at the University of Medicine 1 in Yangon then earned an M.B.A. in healthcare management from De Montfort University in Leicester, U.K., in 2018. In 2019, she participated in Harvard Medical School's Southeast Asia Healthcare Leadership Program. She is also listed as Forbes 30 under 30.
