Guy commenced serving as the Senior Economist for the International Grains Program Institute at Kansas State University in the spring of 2019. In this role, he provides technical and research-based training and programs on supply chains, commodity markets and the risk management of agricultural commodities benefiting industry professionals globally.
Guy's extensive career in grains and commodities spans three continents; North America, Australia, Asia and China. He has vast experience in commodity trading and risk management, supply chain logistics and commodity analysis; as well as new business development. He also maintains interests in grain production and farming activities in both Australia and the U.S.
Guy began his career in grain in 1986 at the local country elevator, Taloma Farmers. In 1988 Guy commenced work with Louis Dreyfus Commodities in Pekin, Illinois, located on the Illinois-Mississippi River system. From there he expanded his experience with trading and operational responsibilities while at locations across the Midwest in Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska; as well as in Australia and China.
While in Australia, Guy went on in 1995 to establish the grain trading division for GrainCorp Operations Ltd., in Sydney when Australia’s domestic market deregulation began, and over a seven year period grew that business to maturity.
In 2002 he served as a Founding Director of Advance Trading AustralAsia, a leading risk management advisor to producers, commercial traders, consumers and end users.
Guy has worked closely with large and small grain consumers and end-users, where he developed risk management, raw material procurement and pricing strategies across Australia and New Zealand. This included establishing new domestic and international supply chains, along with implementing new commodity accounting and logistical systems.
During his time in Australia, Guy was a key player in the establishment of Australia’s Trade Rules and Dispute Resolution Rules and is an experienced GTA (Grain Trade Australia) Arbitrator. He is also a Licensed Futures Broker (AFSL) and holds Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
Guy has trained and mentored many of the industry population and is a committed advocate for lifting the industry's professional standards. His "grassroots" foundation in agriculture and his diverse international experience ensures that Guy brings unique perspectives and skills to the industry.
Mike Bedford was born and raised in Birkenhead (Liverpool near) and earned a Bachelors in Nottingham University in Animal nutrition, physiology, nutrition and production 1978-81. Mike met with John Summers there and went on to do a Masters at the University of Guelph, Canada, in Poultry amino acid nutrition with Prof John D. Summers as supervisor (1981-1984). Then, Bedford went on to do a PhD at the University of Guelph (1984-1988) on Interaction of nutrition with poultry polyamine biochemistry with Profs Trevor K. Smith and John Summers as supervisors. Post-Docs at McGill (Montreal, 1988-1989, D Zadworny) and Saskatchewan (1989-1991 – Hank Classen) in molecular biology and enzymes in poultry nutrition respectively. Since then I have worked in the industry on feed enzymes principally at Finnfeeds International (1991-2001), Zymetrics (2001- 2007) and finally AB Vista (2007-present) where I have been the Director of Research. He has held positions such as Adjunct Professor at UNE Australia, The University of Arkansas, and Nottingham Trent Univeristy (UK). He was a council member of Houghton Trust and British Poultry Science, held a seat on the Editorial Board for Journal of Applied Animal Nutrition and was a section editor of poultry science. Bedford has produced over 350 publications including more than 250 full refereed journal articles, principally in the field of feed enzymes, more than 30 popular press articles and 6 book chapters. 3 books including 3 editions of “Enzymes in farm animal nutrition”.
John Boney is an Associate Professor of Poultry Science and Poultry Extension Specialist at Penn State. John earned his Ph.D. from West Virginia University where he studied applied poultry nutrition and feed manufacturing. He maintains a 75% extension and 25% teaching appointment. His applied research and Extension programs focus on pellet quality and potential remedies to on-farm nutrient segregation. His lab is student-centered, with numerous graduate and undergraduate students playing key roles in research project execution. These efforts are intended to evolve efficient poultry feeding and produce the next generation of poultry industry leaders.
David Brandt received his MSc Agric (Animal Science) degree from the University of Stellenbosch where he researched alternative energy & protein sources in the Western Cape. Whilst completing his post graduate studies he spent 2 years with the Department of Agriculture (Western Cape), where he gained extensive experience in Near Infra-red Reflectance Spectrometry instruments and technology.
David started his career at Afgri Animal Feeds as a Nutritionist and later joined the Kuipers Group as the group nutritionist where he gained extensive experience in breeder and layer nutrition. He then became Managing Director at Eagles Rock Feed Mill and managed the feed business for the Kuipers Group. David then joint AFGRI again as Director of Monogastric Nutrition. In 2011, David left Afgri Animal Feeds to start his own feed consultation company. Currently he is the Managing Director and Poultry Specialist at Feed First.
Feed First is one of the biggest poultry consulting companies in South and Southern Africa and consults for a customer base that in total produce approximately 180 000 ton feed per month and manages the formulations for a customer base of 120 000 ton of feeds per month. David has mentored 10 M.Sc. students during his time in the industry. David was awarded the prestigious AFMA Technical Person of the year Award in 2018
He maintains a research-based approach to his consultation & is responsible for 2 broiler trial facilities. David has a special interest broiler breeder nutrition and in modelling responses of broilers in a commercial environment to maximizing profits for his customers.
David J. Caldwell currently serves as Director of the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science and Head of the Department of Poultry Science at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. Prior to this administrative appointment, Dr. Caldwell held a faculty position for 24 years in the Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M University, serving the final 7 years of his tenure there as Department Head. He earned B.S. in Poultry Science in 1991, M.S. in Veterinary Microbiology in 1994, and PhD in Veterinary Microbiology in 1997. All degrees were received from Texas A&M University. Throughout his career he routinely taught undergraduate and graduate courses on avian anatomy and physiology, professional development / career exploration, and immunology. His research program had a primary focus on improving health and performance of commercial poultry through improved husbandry or management, vaccination, and the administration of microbial supplements or dietary additives. By the time he discontinued his research program in 2012 to focus exclusively on administration, Dr. Caldwell had mentored over 90 M.S. and Ph.D. students (approximately 30 as advisory committee chair). He was lead, senior, or co-author over 90 peer-reviewed journal articles. He was also successful in securing approximately $2.5 million in external research funding, as lead investigator or co-investigator. Throughout his career, Dr. Caldwell, along with graduate students and colleagues, endeavored to conduct research that combined relevant science with endpoints that had commercial applicability for the poultry producing industry.
Alex was born in Colombia and after completing his bachelors in Animal Science in Colombia, her enrolled in Masters and Doctoral research programs in poultry nutrition at Oklahoma State and Auburn University, respectively. Alex has worked in Academia for 8 years at Mississippi State University, and in the allied industry with Elanco for 3 years. The last 10 years he has spent working for Aviagen in the capacity of internal nutritionist for the company’s flocks and supporting customers in US. He lives in Huntsville, Alabama, the home of the headquarters of Aviagen, with his wife and 7 year old twins.
Alison Duncan is a Professor and Associate Director of Research at the Human Nutraceutical Research Unit, in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph. Alison’s academic training is focused on nutrition with a BASc in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Guelph, training for a Registered Dietitian at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, a MSc in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Minnesota. Her teaching and research relate to the effects of functional foods on human health outcomes examined in human clinical trials with a particular focus on the agri-food-health continuum. Alison is a Past-President of the Canadian Nutrition Society. She is also a long-time member of the editorial board for the Journal of Nutrition and is a Fellow of the Dietitians of Canada and the Canadian Nutrition Society.
Juan Gabriel Espino is a veterinarian who graduated from San Carlos University in Guatemala. He obtained his Masters Degree in Animal Nutrition at San Carlos University in 2009. In 2003- 2004, Juan completed an internship at The University of Georgia under professors Dr. Pedro Villegas, Ph.D and Dr. Charles Hofacre, Ph.D. Juan is the Production and Feed Plant Panager in Espiga S.A. Espiga is an egg farm company that has a population of 200K layers. Espiga S.A. has its own feed mill which is sold to clients. In 2019, Juan started a project to teach animal nutrition around Latin america. We have been teaching animal nutrition for more than 100 students of different countries. The main goal of this entrepenourship is to teach science through practice and shared experience with the community of young nutritionists. In 2022, Juan became the Technical Editor for NUTRINEWS Europe and NUtrinews LATAM where he not only contributes to the publication through articles, but also oversees others submitted. Additionally, in 2022 Juan started working as a consultant in animal nutrition focusing swine and poultry.
Arturo R. Garcia joined Butterball as a nutritionist in March 2021. Prior to this position, Arturo held several roles working for Cargill Animal Nutrition in various locations. In 2006, Arturo joined Cargill in Elk River, MN, where he was responsible for conducting research and development work to support the company’s worldwide poultry business. In 2009, Arturo became a support nutritionist for Cargill’s consulting business in Mexico, which included service to the local complete feed business as well as customers in Central and South America. In 2012, Arturo joined the premix business of Cargill under the Provimi group, where he provided nutrition support for egg and turkey producers.
Arturo was born in Mexico City. He graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1999, and a Master’s Degree in nutrition and toxicology in the same educational institution in 2002. Arturo worked for Anglo Corp in 2002 as a technical service representative for poultry. In 2003, he was admitted at the University of Georgia to pursue a PhD degree in poultry nutrition, which he completed in 2006 under the direction of Dr. Nick Dale.
Dr. Trey Kellner is the Swine Nutritionist and Managing Partner for AMVC Nutritional Services. He currently oversees the feeding program for over 175,000 sows and 2,000,000 market pigs per year in 12 states across 40 plus feed mills. Dr. Kellner grew up in rural Western Kansas and found an early interest in swine nutrition by managing a modest show pig operation and observing his dad manage a cooperative feed mill. He attended Colby Community College and University of Nebraska and obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Science under the tutelage of Dr. John Patience at Iowa State University.
Trey adds value from the board room to the slat level. He develops and executes successful feeding programs and predicts economic and performance outcomes. He works in tandem with primary caretakers, production managers, veterinarians, central feed desk employees, and feed mill managers to ensure the correct feed gets to the correct pig at the correct time. Most recently, Trey was honored with the 2020 Young Alumni of Distinction Award by the Animal Science Department at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, the 2022 Midwest Section of the American Society of Animal Science Outstanding Early Career Agribusiness Award, and the 2023 Alpha Gamma Rho Grand President’s Award. Trey currently resides in Audubon, Iowa with his wife Heather and five-year old son Theo and two-year old daughter Dylan.
I was raised in rural northern Missouri on a livestock farm with my four brothers, the son of a veterinarian and university biology instructor. Upon graduation from high school I attended the University of Missouri where I received a BS in Animal Science and a MS in Poultry Nutrition. I then received a PhD in Nutrition with a minor in biotechnology at North Carolina State University.
Following my PhD I was a postdoctoral research associate with the USDA at the National Animal Germplasm Program in Fort Collins, CO from 2005-2006. During my time at the USDA I led the team that developed an initial protocol for the cryopreservation of poultry primordial germ cells for use in preserving poultry genetic lines at risk of termination or needed to maintain genetic diversity in commercial poultry.
Next I was Manager, Poultry Research and Technical Support, at Diamond V from 2006-2010 where I helped with product development, research discoveries and monogastric technical messaging for the US and international markets.
Following Diamond V I was hired by BASF as Manager, Animal Nutrition Research and Development for the nutritionally enhanced corn program in their Plant Science division where I led the animal nutrition team making agronomic advancements, nutritional and monetary valuations and key strategic decisions for corn hybrids.
After serving as a client for several years I joined Colorado Quality Research (CQR) in 2014 where I became the President and Owner.
North America Poultry Technical Account Manager at Zinpro Corporation since 2017. Duarte has a BA in Zootechnical Engineering and MS in Poultry Nutrition.
His Doctorate was completed at the University of Georgia in Poultry Science and focused on Broiler Breeder Nutrition and Reproductive Endocrinology. Duarte brings his expertise and continuous curiosity to the US Zinpro poultry team and customers.
Dr. Edgar O. Oviedo-Rondón is a Professor of Poultry Science, Nutrition, and Data Analytics and Extension Specialist in the Prestage Department of Poultry Science at North Carolina State University. He received his Veterinary degree from the University of Tolima in Colombia. Edgar obtained his M.S. in Animal Nutrition and Production in Brazil at the State University of Maringa, his Ph.D. in Poultry Science at the University of Arkansas, and, in 2018, an MBA from NC State University in Data Analytics and Decision Making. Dr. Oviedo has experience in the poultry industry as a Veterinarian, Nutritionist, Extension Specialist, and Consultant in 36 countries. Dr. Oviedo’s responsibilities include extension and research in broiler and broiler breeder nutrition and management, incubation, and data analytics. His research activities are related to feedstuff quality and processing, evaluation of feed additives, especially enzymes, mineral metabolism, intestinal health, avian bone, and muscle development and its impacts on locomotion and meat quality, incubation effects on production and health, and applications of data analytics and computer models. Dr. Oviedo is the author or co-author of 120 peer-reviewed publications in Scientific Journals, 352 Proceedings of International Meetings, 327 abstracts of presentations in Scientific Meetings at National and International levels, 123 popular press articles, 11 book chapters, and four books, including three Optimum Vitamin Nutrition books for Poultry, Swine, and Ruminants.
David joined RPMG in Nov. 2020. He has over 13 years’ experience in animal nutrition. Prior to RPMG he did some independent consulting but had served more than 11 years with Cargill animal nutrition in their global research and development team and their U.S. commercial business. He worked across animal species to create new customer feed solutions with technology application, managing IP, and regulatory policy. Prior to Cargill he managed a research and development lab in Duluth, MN. David is a graduate of University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
J. T. Pope completed his undergraduate and graduate work at North Carolina State University focusing on feed manufacturing and broiler nutrition and management. Upon graduating, J. T. started working with House of Raeford as one of their nutritionists. J. T. is approaching his sixth year with House of Raeford and utilizes internal research facilities to study applied broiler nutrition leading him to discuss his experiences with on-farm blending systems to precision feed broilers.
Mike Stage has been employed for 32 years at the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. For the lasy 5 years, he has served as the Agri Division Manager overseeing the Plant Industries Division and Quality Control and Compliance Section (QCC). Within this role, Mike is responsible for managing the following programs:

Dr. Peter Surai started his career as a biochemist in Ukraine and In 1993 he became Professor of Human Physiology there. In 1996 he moved to Scotland and in 2000 he became a full Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry at the Scottish Agricultural College. Since then, he also has become Honorary Professor at various universities in the UK (Glasgow University), Hungary (Saint Istvan University), Bulgaria (Trakia University), Ukraine and Russia. He has more than 900 research publications, including 180 papers in peer-reviewed journals, devoted to antioxidants. Recently he has been developing vitagene concept in relation to poultry and animal production. For the last 25 years he has been lecturing all over the world visiting more than 70 countries. His books devoted to antioxidants with a specific emphasis to selenium including “Natural Antioxidants in Avian Nutrition and Reproduction” (2002), “Selenium in Nutrition and Health” (2006), “Selenium in Poultry Nutrition and health” (2018), Selenium in Pig Nutrition and Health (2021) and Selenium in Ruminant Nutrition and Health (2024) have become textbooks for many poultry/animal industry specialists.
Dr. Linnea Tracy was drawn to veterinary medicine via a combined interest in population health, public health, and food security. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine where she completed a concurrent Master of Public Health through the University of Minnesota. In 2020, she completed her Master of Avian Medicine at the University of Georgia and became a diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians in 2021. Dr. Tracy served as the Director of Technical Services with Eggland’s Best for over two years, focusing on direct technical support to egg producers, nutritional innovation, and full-spectrum quality assurance. She feels lucky to work in a field that is constantly innovating, combines science and medicine with improving food production and availability in the United States, and to be furthering these goals in her role as a Veterinary Services Manager with Ceva Animal Health focusing on layer chickens.
