Travel Time Reliability (TTR) is an increasing concern for agencies, travelers, and businesses and is gradually being recognized as a key performance measurement approach for transportation systems. A new TTR methodology was included in the Sixth Edition of the Highway Capacity Manual, allowing practitioners to evaluate the variability of travel time in a facility over long periods of time (typically 1 year).
The effects of probabilistic factors such as varying demand, weather, incidents, or work zones are taken into account in the analysis. This presentation will present an overview of the TTR methodology from the Highway Capacity Manual and will include case studies using the Highway Capacity Software (HCS)
