Polish metalworking market is largely depended on import of foreign machinery. Due to the historical development of heavy industry – shipyards, mining, automotive and steel it has high need for machinery.
However, due to historical and political reasons, domestic machinery manufacturers are only able to satisfy about 30% of demand. 70% of metalworking machinery is imported.
In 2018 Poland imported metalworking tools – presses, machining centers, drills and other tools (HS 8455-8463) worth over $1 billion USD.
Polish metalworking market has shown 10% growth in imported quantity between 2014-2018 and value increase of 11.5% during the same period of time.
Due to its geographical location, Poland is a great place for OEMs to assemble their products and then distribute them both to the West and East. 17 OEMs have their factories set in Poland with hundreds of Tier 1 and Tier 2 manufacturers, as well as sub-suppliers that serve them with production of parts, systems and technological solutions.
